From Humble Beginnings
Huxtaburger was founded in 2011 by three genuine hospitality legends, Dante Ruaine, Jeff Wong & Daniel Wilson. These guys are the epitome of ‘work hard, stay humble’. With decades of experience between them and resumes stacked with awesome accolades, it should come as no surprise that Huxtaburger launched with hordes of eager customers in queues around the block to have a taste (not to mention sitting on the sidewalk just to score a seat). This landed them Huxtaburger gigs at pretty much every notable event on Melbourne’s social calendar.
These three guys had a vision. Between them they had a solid set of skills, some serious balls and a truck load of passion. It all began late one night (more like early morning, if we’re being honest), when the boys conceived the idea of opening up an epic burger joint, while sitting inside their one hatted restaurant, Huxtable, which had barely opened its doors on Smith Street. The very next day they rolled up their sleeves and went to work with fists full of enthusiasm to turn their vision into reality. They knew a premium burger joint was exactly what Smith Street needed, but little did they know. They would soon go on to create a cult burger joint that would take the whole of Melbourne by storm. They haven’t looked back or stopped since.
Over their expansive careers, the boys have been fortunate enough to have seen the entire hospitality industry from every possible vantage point. They’ve always had an ear to the ground, knowing exactly what the customer wants, as well as the financial sensibilities that underpin commercial success. They are now extending the very same opportunity to like-minded people, who are just as dedicated and driven, to join in on this epic ride and run their very own Huxtaburger.

Who We Are
We are Huxtaburger; untameably cheeky and a touch twisted.
We own taste and we want to inspire people through our passion for flavour. We confidently proclaim this because our food and credentials have been meticulously honed, refined and crafted through our fearless pursuit of awesomeness, not over months or even years, but through decades of hard work. We started Melbourne’s burger craze back in 2011 and we intend to keep pushing the burger boundaries by always following our gut and continuing to bring heart and personality to the table.
But we are much more than burgers; we champion a way of life, one that involves working hard during the week and being regrettably horizontal on Sundays. We embrace diversity. No matter what gender, race, sexuality, faith, age etc. that you align with – the #huxtalife is all inclusive. We’re not interested in fitting in. We fearlessly and passionately own it, by never compromising on quality or our beliefs. We proudly stand united with our Huxtamers and will never shy away from fighting the good fight.

Being heavily involved in the development and operations of our franchise network is one of my favourite parts of my role at Huxtaburger. From onboarding and training to overseeing the restaurant build, a lot of hard work goes in but it’s an awesome feeling to see it all come together. We love having franchisees who take ownership of all areas of their store, whilst operating in line with the operations manual. Bringing talented operators into the network not only helps us expand the brand, but also allows us to learn and grow ourselves, which improves our overall offering; we’re a collaborative team here at Huxta.

What I love most about Huxtaburger is the energy and atmosphere created by the brand. Huxta is such a cool and fun place to work because of this: support from the office team is always available and the team has a can-do attitude. Their approach flows down into the restaurant and makes it an enjoyable and exciting place to be. Boring it certainly is not. I am an all-in type of person and Huxta gives me the opportunity to express myself, while still maintaining brand values and culture. Since I started with Huxta I no longer feel like I’m going to work each day, instead I get excited and think to myself, what can we achieve today?!
